1 unbaked pie shell (deep dish, such as Marie Callender's)  

3 large eggs  

½ cup granulated sugar  

½ tsp salt  

½ tsp ground nutmeg (plus extra for garnish)  

2 ⅔ cups whole milk (or half-and-half for extra richness)  

1 tsp pure vanilla extract  


How to Make Traditional Custard Pie

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).  

2. Prepare custard filling:  

   - Lightly beat eggs in a bowl.  

   - Add sugar, salt, nutmeg, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well.  

3. Fill pie shell by pouring custard mixture into the unbaked pie crust.  

4. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the center is set (a knife inserted should come out clean).
